//ITALY

As promised here are some little snapshots of Vess' drawings and doodles. She's studying Graphic Design, so alot of the time she'll be; drawing, taking note of things which interest her and writing down artists or names of designers. She's also such a fabulous fashion illustrator, hopefully I can convince her to draw more!

These drawings were done during her prato trip, Prato which is in Italy, as part of her uni course. She showed me these drawings and I love how she captures the atmosphere of her experience through; the Leaning Tower of Pisa dress, the watercolour of the landscape and the pen drawings of the architecture. (Shamefully, I still haven't sat down to look at all her photos)

As you can see, we've got a lot of talent running around this little blog. So much so, that I'm finding it hard to determine which area I would like to focus on.

-photography, fashion, design, art, illustration, travel-

so many areas!

Lately, I've been procastinating and looking at alot of fashion photography blogs. (My fantasy world away from assignments and uni work!) There are so many inspiring examples of young talent out there and most of them are particularly young female photographers. Which motivates us to keep taking more photos and experimenting more!

//FLOW

As promised, here are some pictures of Vess and her artwork (literally together!), just some shots taken from my phone in the morning before she has to hand it in. I really cannot believe she gets to do this for uni (for those who don’t know, Vess is currently studying graphic design). She has such amazing talent and I am always in awe that she can paint up something as majestic as this, in less than 4 fours. (that is, if she is really focused!)

A bit tired today, very worn out from the past few days, with photoshoots, photography, posing and editing. This morning we had a great time being the ‘unofficial’ engagement party photographers for “J & R”, Jon and Ruth. We did the photo booth props again, gave the moustaches a dust off and made a few more ‘new’ props to coincide with the pastel theme of the soon to be, bride and groom.

Vess and I CAN NOT WAIT to show you pictures from the day and to share some of the new props we made!

Keep looking fellow friends!

Love you guys!

//LITTLE BIT OF LOVE

Project: Love, Love, Love, Love
Aim: A card for a special friend
Materials: Paper, scissors,

Hello lovely friends, decided to share some more crafty pictures with you lovely people! These cards I made    earlier on in the year for a dear friend's birthday. She's really sweet, kind and caring and I hope that this card could reflect her personality, with the bright colours and all.

This was also one of the first cards which I have made that has a matching envelope. Ah, I love envelopes, it ads an extra, delpth or newer dimension to your cards. It's the first part of the experience, which once you open, contains another experience inside.

I wonder what it was like 'back in the day' when people would right cards and letters all the time to one another. Thus, making it all the more special when you receive something.

Well, if any of you lovely people want to receieve a card in the mail, send us an email with your name and address and I'll see what I can do for you!

I was talking to some of my student life friends this week, and we were reflecting on what areas of our life, we were finding it difficult to surrender fully to God. One area, which I personally found that I had trouble with surrendering all to His Glory was my art and my crafty passion (which I find is employed mostly to B.P.S) So i've challenged myself, once a week to draw a picture/image for Jesus to share his love.

So here's the first one ;

/OH MY /MOUSTACHE !

I seem to have an odd fascination with moustaches and moustached individuals.

I'm not sure where or why the sudden interest in moustaches originated, but it is definately a quirky, cute and whimsical well known object to play around with!

I personally have found in my own shopping adventures, that any item which features a moustache, instantly becomes more desirable on my part. I guess, I really enjoy the quirkiness (i use that word too much) and the very funny aspects of a moustache for us, modern day individuals.

It could be said that this is a collaborated blog post. Photos and cookies were taken by the wonderful Emerald (think this would have to be the 5th time we have featured her talents on our blog.) who is both an amazing baker and photographer

We found these cookie cutters, at Melbourne Central, and Em, being an avid baker and moustache enthusist, was like, "I HAVE to have them!". This card was pretty simple to make, just cut out a moustache, whip it on a card and add some witty writing to it!

Thankyou amazimg readers! You all are amazing!

Hope you are having a restful and joyful Easter Weekend lovelies!

//WELL SAID

Project: To spread the love and support through typography
Aim: To present love through simplicity
Materials: Fine liner, card, coloured circles

The other day I was reflecting on the importance of words in our lives and how sometimes it's so much easier to speak  words which tear down rather than build UP. (I think it's called tall poppy syndrome, where you tend to chop down other people around you, who seem to be doing better.) But I started looking around me and it seems that our world, through the use of social networking, blogs, twittr, etc. has become a more supportive and more encouraging to one another through our words. So I've been trying to transfer the same encouraging spirit into 'the non-cyber world" and starting to spread the LOVE through cards.

These cards were inspired by one of many crafty blogs I search through (procrastinate) on when I have a chance. It's such a blessing to share with other creatives online and to be inspired by these people who are so generous to share their work with others.

Lettering and words, created by me, so please do enjoy!

"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."
-Ephesians 4:29-

I told Vess that the "happy birthday" card looked like an egg.

White on the outside, yellow on the inside!

What do you reckon?

//FLORAL TREAT

Okay, honestly the first photo in this post would not be the best photo of  Val. I like to believe that photo was taken early in the morning, hence the terrible hair and sleepy eyes which no amount of photo shop can fix! And the old man socks,....interesting.

Anywhos, back to the outfit post details! This dress is yet another altered, 'old dress, new style'  outfit. Mum and I scored this dress at one of the local op shops in our area for around $6. What was once an oversized, slightly floppy dress is now a light, sweet and airy summer dress, thanks to some hemming and sewing!

I'm also quite proud of the leaf garland I managed to fashion for myself. Whipped that one together while I was waiting for Vess to grab the camera for our mini shoot in our front yard. It's always fun to casually stroll,  pretending when neighbours drive pass not to be discretely taking pictures of ourselves.

//NEW STYLE

Well this the final result of mum's many attempts at altering the dress! As you can see, ALOT of it was cut off and resuse/resown and altered! Originally mum wanted to keep the sleeves on the dress, but we found that when we lifted our arms up, the dress seemed a bit too short because the sleeves pulled the hemming up. Thus to solve the issue, our wonderful and ingenius mother, cut the sleeves, made them into pockets instead and added elastic around the waist to provide a bit more shape.
Dress looks completely new/different! Have a go at doing some revamping some of your old clothes or second hand clothes, it's extremely rewarding and lets all the creative juices flow!

I was listening to a podcast today, from Rick Warren, the author of A Purpose Driven Life, and he was commenting on creativity and innovation. That for every achivement there should be dozens or more mistakes, or 'almost wins' made. He highlighted the achievements of Albert Einstein, who attained such success while valueing the importance of making mistakes.

"A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new."
Albert Einstein
Hope you're enjoying the sunshine!
Try something new today!

//YE OLDE DRESS

This lovely little treasure of ours is a new addition to our family of thrifted and vintage clothes. Bought and found at a ms op shop in kew, we're planning on altering the dress to make it more.....wearable.

The prints on the dress is so beautiful and the neckline is extremely lovely. Obvious alterations that we're going to do are; cutting and hemming up the length, and maybe adjustibg the sleeves. I wish we could say that we're the crafty and talented one behind these diy pieces but its actually our amazing mother who has the wonderful skills of alterations and dress making.

 I love seeing her get super excited about sewing, cause shes so happy when shes doing what she loves and we get to wear more lovely dresses!!

 The altered, finished dress will be up soon!

//FOODIE

A while ago myself (vess) and our awesome friend Danica, made a pact to draw ALL the food that we ate for a week.
It was quite fun. But challenging on the day that we went to eat yum cha! Lovely readers, please don't hesitate to draw conclusions on my eating habits. One friend made the comment that I ate a lot of bread.
I had to agree.
And on the page that holds only a lone sandwich, don't worry, I ate more than a sandwich that day. I just forgot to draw the rest of what I ate.

And some of Dani's drawings!

Hope you enjoy them, and please check out the rest of  lovely Danica's drawings over on her tumblr, which is choc-a-block full of inspiring imagery and thoughts:

//A world of PROPS

Well, I really wanted to make a tutorial to show how we made these props, but I realied I didn't take enough pictures of them to make a substantial tutorial. But still, I thought it would be nice to include some more behind the scenes pics of our work station. I realised in the above picture you can see what we were snacking on, German chocolate and chickpeas. (Is it normal to snack on chickpeas?)

Basically the process to make the props was pretty simple, using felt, cardboard, paper, kebab sticks and lots of glue. It was three layers of the same template stuck down together and a kebab stick sandwiched inbetween to get the handle.

It's quite easy to make, but because we made so many it took as around a couple of hours. The great part is that these props can be recycled over and over again!

Let us know if you want a tutorial done, or if even if you want some made for your wedding/party/birthday/celebration/graduation/picnic etc.!

And below are just some pics where I got my inspiration from!

Aren't they awesome?

I especially like the really long beards and the smoking pipe!
